George Murdoch
Talent Placement Specialist - Edinburgh
Originally from North London, I have now lived in Edinburgh for 23 years. In that time I have worked in some of the city’s best loved restaurants, gaining vast knowledge and experience along the way. From 2013 to 2016 I worked in the stunning Boath House hotel in Nairn, a beautiful part of Scotland situated on the Moray coast. The hotel held a Michelin Star and 4 AA Rosettes which allowed me to witness the kitchen team creating exquisite dishes with the best local produce on offer. In the off season I spent my time studying wine and went to Vienna in 2015 to sit the Court of Master Sommeliers Certified Sommelier exam which I successfully passed (like the people in the Somm documentaries but not quite at their level).
I love the hospitality industry and have been privileged to work with some truly exceptional talents throughout my career. The ultimate privilege is to pass these skills and knowledge on to others. Training and development has always been the part of the job which inspires me the most and I can’t wait to work with great businesses and individuals to ensure the Scottish hospitality industry continues to go from strength to strength.
Cooking is a passion of mine so down time is usually spent making food for family and friends which is often accompanied by a bottle or two of delicious wine. I also enjoy the outdoors, holidays are spent in the UK in weird and wonderful accommodation with great hikes on the doorstep.
